Controllable access monitoring system for secure buildings and spaces in which a person wishing to enter uses a registered data carrier or transponder with a device on the outside of the protected area. If data on the data carrier is recognized, then access is granted to the protected inner region. For access to a building a check-in transponder can be issued that allows location and time controlled access.
