The present disclosure relates to a system and method for providing transmission notification. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to providing notification to a user that a document has been transmitted with a transmission device. In one arrangement, the system and method pertain to identifying the location of an email account of the user (406) and sending a copy of the transmitted document to the user email account (414). In another arrangement, the system and method pertain to identifying the location of an email account of the user (406) and sending a notification to the user email account (414). The transmission may be by electronic mail (email) or by facsimilie (fax) for example.
