PURPOSE: A method for setting a screen size variable range of a monitor is provided to facilitate optimum design of picture quality and performance of the monitor, reduce manufacturing cost, and decrease rearrangement cost. CONSTITUTION: A characteristic value related with a horizontal screen size of a monitor is extracted using a screen controller(S31), and a screen size compensation function according to the characteristic value is formed and stored in a microcomputer of the monitor(S32). Factory mode data set on the basis of monitor design specifications by a product automation system is stored in a memory of the monitor(S33). Maximum/minimum ranges of the horizontal screen size of the monitor are set according to the factory mode data and compensation function whenever a monitor input signal is changed.
