A method of controlling access to playable content where a request to access the playable content has an associated access criterion, and a credential, acquired from a credential provider, received from a user is compared with predefined access criterion to determine whether access is allowed. The credential may be encrypted., and may include criterion information identifying a characteristic of the user to which the credential relates. This could be the user's age, or geographical location, which could be determined using cell information from a cellular telephone communication system. A trusted software element may be used to perform the credential matching process, and this element may be embedded in the playable content. The access criteria could be a logical combination of credentials. |
