PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to remove frost formed on a lower area and a side area of a heat exchanger during defrosting. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator includes a pair of extended plates(40) extended from both sides of defrosted water receiving part(30) along a heat exchanger(20) to have the heat exchanger therebetween; and an auxiliary heater member(41) placed on the extended plate to defrost both sides of the hat exchanger. A main heater member is placed on the defrosted water receiving part to radiate heat together with a heater tube(21) to transmit heat to the heat exchanger so as to remove frost formed on the heat exchanger. The auxiliary heater member is turned on/off independently of the main heater member. Alternatively, the auxiliary heater member is extended from the main heater member. The auxiliary heater member is interposed between side areas of the heat exchanger and the extended plate. The auxiliary heater member is arranged on a surface of the extended plate zigzag. The main heater member and the auxiliary heater member cover the heat exchanger to remove frost formed on the lower area and the side area of the heat exchanger.
