Methods for producing amide derivatives of the formula [XV] are described. These derivatives are useful as HIV protease inhibitors.wherein R4 is an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted aryl, an optionally substituted heteroaryl, an optionally substituted aralkyl or an optionally substituted heteroarylalkyl, R6 and R7 are the same or different and each is a hydrogen atom, an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted aryl, an optionally substituted heteroaryl or an optionally substituted aralkyl, or R6 and R7 combinedly form, together with the adjacent nitrogen atom, a hetero ring, said hetero ring being optionally substituted by halogen atom, alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, amino, alkoxycarbonyl, carboxamide or alkyl-substituted carbamoyl, and R8 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, an optionally substituted aryl or an optionally substituted aralkyl, or an enantiomer thereof.
