PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging apparatus in which a commodity can be kept supported by a lift mechanism as long as possible when the member of a folding mechanism comes in toward the bottom side of the commodity upon folding in a film, so that the stability of the commodity is hardly impaired. SOLUTION: The packaging apparatus comprises a film holding mechanism for holding the film tense, the lift mechanism, and the folding mechanism for folding in the periphery of the film under the commodity. The lift mechanism comprises a center base 33 and front/rear bases 34, both of which can be moved relatively, and supporting members extended upward from respective bases 33, 34. Supports 34c, 36b, 37b, and 39b for supporting the commodity are formed on the upper part of the supporting members. When the film is folded in toward the bottom side of the commodity by the folding mechanism, the center base 33 and the front/rear bases 34 are moved relatively, leading to the shrinkage of the bases 33, 34 and the support members on a plane level.
