PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of widening a temperature difference between the head and the feet and setting the head cool and the feet warm in a bi-level blowing mode by disposing backflow prevention changeover means guiding a cold air of a cold air passage only to a face opening part. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for the vehicle is provided with an air passage 20 communicating with a foot opening part 26, a defroster opening part 21, and the face opening part 23, the cold air passage 28 guiding a part of the cold air passing an evaporator 12, and a cold air door 29 opening/closing the cold air passage 28. This conditioner is so formed that, when the cold air passage 28 is opened, the backflow prevention changeover means 30 is driven by a differential pressure between a pressure in the air passage 20 produced by closing the face door 24 and that in a cabin side, so that the cold air guided from the cold air passage 28 to the face opening part 23 is prevented from distributing to the foot opening part 26 and the defroster opening part 21.
