SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING SOFT HANDOVER IN CDMA MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A system and method for determining a soft handover in a CDMA mobile communication system is provided to prevent an unnecessary soft handover from being generated at congested area like as inner city. CONSTITUTION: A control part judges whether a handover situation is generated(610). If a handover situation is generated, the control part calculates the difference between P_source_t1 and an appointed threshold(H_refer)(612). Then the control part judges whether an arbitrary value(p) is larger than the absolute value of the calculated difference(P_source_t1-H-refer). If the arbitrary value(p) is larger than the absolute value of the calculated difference(P_source_t1-H-refer), the control part monitors whether the difference between P_source_t1 and P_target_t1 is in accord with an existing offset error(618). If the difference between P_source_t1 and P_target_t1 is in accord with the existing offset error, the control part executes handover procedures(620).
