PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the endoscopic apparatus with various kinds of image adjustment means for improving its enlargements with less expensive performance when connected with an image signal adjustment unit. SOLUTION: The video processor 104 is equipped with an image signal processing circuit 32 that works on the image signals obtained by the endoscope and a characteristic detection circuit 131 for detecting characteristic information of images that indicates a specific property of image signals to be processed in the image processing circuits 32, whereas a variety of endoscopes provided with different kinds of image adjustment means to be selectively connected with the video processor 104 is equipped with an endoscopic control circuit 111 for gaining the characteristic information of images detected by the characteristic detection circuits 131 of the video processor 104 and for controlling a variety of image adjustment means such as focus adjustment of an endoscopic imaging unit.
