PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for transmitting caller information is provided to display caller information to a receiver's terminal regardless of CID(Calling Identification Display) service and to previously transmit information related to a voice call to the receiver's terminal so that the voice call can be efficiently executed. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for transmitting caller information consists of a main memory unit, an auxiliary memory unit, and a CPU. The main memory unit comprises a ROM and a RAM. The auxiliary memory unit comprises a caller information database and an index database. The caller information database stores caller information corresponding to the number of a caller's mobile terminal. The index database stores the location information of caller information corresponding to the caller's mobile terminal number. The CPU, if a caller identifier and a receiver's phone number are received from a caller terminal(10) to a mobile switching center(20) via a base station(15), extracts the caller identifier. The CPU searches the index database for the location information of the extracted caller identifier. Then the CPU detects the caller information of the searched location information from the caller information database and transmits it to the mobile switching center(20).
