PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double cyclone type vacuum cleaner in which coarse dust hardly enters an inner cylinder. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner comprises a cleaner body 2, an electric blower 6, an outer cyclone cylinder 11 attached to the cleaner body 2, an inner cyclone cylinder 12 and a whirling airflow generating member 13 for generating a whirling airflow inside the outer cyclone cylinder 11. The bottom 12A of the inner cyclone cylinder 12 is arranged higher than the bottom 11A of the outer cyclone cylinder 11. The inner cyclone cylinder 12 comprises an enlarged diameter portion 21 formed at the outer periphery thereof. When a whirling airflow reaches the bottom 11A of the outer cyclone cylinder 11 and then comes up, the rising airflow runs against the bottom 12A or the enlarged diameter portion 21 of the inner cyclone cylinder 12, so that coarse dust is prevented from rising with the rising airflow.
