APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COVERING OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel apparatus and a novel method for covering an optical fiber by which a covering material can be replenished to a supply tank side without interrupting the covering work. SOLUTION: One or more replenishing tanks 13 each composed of a pressure vessel are installed at a supply tank 3 composed of a pressure vessel. A covering material S for replenishing is housed in the replenishing tank 13 and a pressurizing means 16 for pressurizing inside the replenishing tank 13 to transport and replenish the covering material S into the supply tank 3 under pressure is provided at the replenishing tank 13. Thereby the covering material S can be replenished without interrupting the covering work even when the covering material S in the supply tank 3 decreases. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
