PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for moving a recording medium aside, which can smoothly move the recording medium aside of a guide, with simple and low-priced structure. SOLUTION: This device for moving the recording medium aside is provided with an impeller (a moving-aside wheel) 11 to be driven for rotation for moving a side edge of the recording medium 1 aside of a guide 8 provided in a side, a motor (a rotary driving means) 12 for generating the rotating force for rotating the impeller 11, a power transmitting means 13 interposed between the motor 12 and the impeller 11, and a moving-aside wheel position selecting mechanism 14 for selecting position of the impeller 11 between a moving-aside position and a stop position in response to the rotating direction of the motor 12. When the motor 12 is rotated, the moving-aside wheel selecting mechanism 14 is operated by the rotation of the motor 12 to select the moving-aside position or the stop position, and at the moving-aside position, the recording medium 1 can be moved aside of the guide 8 by the rotation of the impeller 11.
