PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new catalyst which gives excellent asymmetric catalytic reactions and has high stability. SOLUTION: This optically active diferrocenyl phosphine derivative represented by the general formula (I) (X is a metal element; M is a metal element; Ar is an aromatic substituent which may have one or more substituents; R is a hydrocarbon group which may have one or more substituents). The optically active diferrocenyl phosphine derivative gives an excellent asymmetric catalytic reaction and has high stability, when used for a carbon-carbon bond- forming reaction.
