PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper splicing method for a splicer for splicing an engaging base paper and a new base paper to each other with a pressure sensitive adhesive single-coated tape, and to provide a device for the same. SOLUTION: This paper splicing method for a splicer splices a tip of a new base paper supported by one base paper support to the engaging base paper delivered from the other base paper support of a mill roll stand. The pressure sensitive adhesive single-coated tape is put on from one side to the other side of a tip of the new base paper with a part of the pressure sensitive adhesive single-coated tape projected from the tip of the new base paper, and thereafter, the tip of the new base paper is transferred to the paper splicing position, and the adhesive surface of the projecting part of the pressure sensitive adhesive single-coated tape is arranged opposite to the engaging base paper, and a lower end of the engaging base paper cut at the paper splicing position is pressed for adhesion to the projecting part of the pressure sensitive adhesive single- coated tape to splice a lower edge of the engaging base paper and an upper edge of the new base paper, while abutting them on each other.
