PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that rupture of a flange receiving tensile stress is generated in some cases in levels and directions of an impact load, since compression stress is generated in one flange portion when the impact load acts on the one flange and the tensile stress is generated in the other flange portion, in an impact beam which comprises the paired flanges and a web for connecting the flanges, although the impact beam is arranged in a door in order to protect an occupant in side collision of an automobile. SOLUTION: A reinforcement body 8 of a substantially U-shaped cross-section is coupled to the plane flanges 7. The reinforcement body 8 comprises sloped side parts 10, 10 expanded sideways, a thick-walled bottom part 9, and bent parts 11, 11 for coupling the side parts 10, 10 and the bottom part 9. The side parts 10, 10 are expanded sideways when receiving the load to reduce the tensile stress in the bottom part 9 so as to prevent the rupture. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
