The method involves cooling a glass plate in correspondence of a deformation zone of a furnace, where the furnace is divided into two compartments separated by heating a support plane for the glass plate. The plate is faced to side of the heated lower compartment of the furnace, where an opening is provided for introducing the glass plate for deformation. The glass plate is surrounded to the opening of a tube, which is located below a bending portion of the plate. The tube is connected to a unit for feeding a cooling fluid.
