PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cost effective detoning blade providing an improved wear resistance. SOLUTION: The detoning blade has a steel member having a length, width and thickness and a coating including at least one titanium nitride and tungsten carbide on at least a portion of the steel member, in which the coating has a thickness ranging from 0.1 micron up to 4 microns. Otherwise the detoning blade has a steel member having a length, width and thickness and a coating including chromium embedded with diamond on at least a portion of the steel member, in which the coating has a thickness ranging from 2.5 microns up to 7.5 microns and has surface hardness up to the maximum 90 Rockwell C.
