OPTICAL FIBER RIBBON CORE AND OPTICAL FIBER ARRAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary coated optical fiber ribbon which can be fitted to an optical fiber array substrate having its core array pitch reduced almost to a glass optical fiber diameter substantially without being bent and makes it possible to highly integrate and make optical waveguides and optical components small-sized, and an optical fiber array using it. SOLUTION: The optical fiber array is formed by fitting and fixing the secondary coated optical fiber ribbon 1, formed by laterally arraying a plurality of primary coated optical fibers of 0.5 to 3.0μm in the thickness of a fiber coating 3 provided to a glass optical fiber 2 having been drawn in contact and uniting them with a common coating 4, to the optical fiber array substrate 5 of 125 to 130μm in core array pitch P'.
