PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake device for an engine which suppresses generation of uncombusted gas HC (hydrocarbon) at the time of low-temperature starting through suppression of fuel attachment to the intake port inner wall of the engine by enwrapping the fuel injected from a fuel injector with the intake air, and of stabilizing the operation to produce particulates in the injected fuel at the time of low-temperature starting. SOLUTION: The intake device of the engine includes a control valve to change the opening projection area on the intake port of the engine where the fuel is injected from the fuel injector installed on the way of an independent intake pipe to distribute the air to the cylinders from the collector of an intake manifold, and thereby the amount of the air supplied is controlled by adjusting the degree of opening of the control valve according to the engine operating conditions, wherein an air flow is formed on the inner wall surface of the intake port so that the fuel injected from the injector does not collide directly with the inner wall surface.
