PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a diver to intuitively understand display on a map related to a route. SOLUTION: Data of each row of characters and each figure displayed on the map in advance as shown in Fig. 7a is stored by relating it to a link and a node to which an object displayed by the row of characters and the figure is related. When a recommended route is calculated, rows of characters 712, 714, 716 and figures 711, 715 related to a link and a node where the recommended route passes through are displayed on the map together with display 710 of the recommended route by emphasizing them more than other row of characters and figure.
