PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide embroidery lace having stretchability, using a base cloth with excellent transparency, and having a clear lace pattern and excellent durability. SOLUTION: This base cloth for the embroidery lace is composed of a latent crimp-developing polyester fiber, and satisfies the following characteristics: (a) having 20-150% elongation in the warp direction under 3.5 N/cm load; (b) having 70-100% stress retention after 50 hr irradiation with the light of a carbon arc lamp; and (c) having 20-50 transparency index of the base cloth.
