<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a composite material which has an optional thermal expansion coefficient. <P>SOLUTION: A composition having a negative thermal expansion coefficient and containing oxide expressed by the chemical formula of (A<SB>1-</SB>ZDZ)(W<SB>1-</SB>XRX)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>8</SB>(A is Zr, or Hf, or their mixture; D is at least one element selected from elements which can enter into solid solution in ZrO<SB>2</SB>or HfO<SB>2</SB>; Z is the value less than the maximum ratio of the solid solution atoms limited by each element (inclusive of zero); R is at least one element selected from elements which can enter into solid solution in WO<SB>3</SB>; and X is the value less than the maximum ratio of the solid solution atoms limited by each element (inclusive of zero) is compressed and solidified by using impulse waves of 2 to 50 GPa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
