PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyether-based hydraulic fluid having excellent compatibility with a hydrocarbon-based base oil, lubricity, etc. SOLUTION: This polyether-based hydraulic fluid is formed out of a polyether (E) which is expressed by the general formula: R<SP>1</SP>-ä(OCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>)m(OA)n}- OH äR<SP>1</SP>is a 1-24C hydrocarbon residue; A is a 2-4C alkylene, provided that A is not 1,4-butylene; and m and n are each an integer more than 1 and make the polyether (E) has a number-average molecular weight of 300-50,000} and has a HLB of≤6.0 and the number-average molecular weight of 300-50,000.
