PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device of a polarized wave mode dispersion for preventing the deviation of a polarized light component. SOLUTION: In a case when the incident radiation generated by a wavelength variable light source 10 is entered into an optical fiber 18 corresponding to a p-polarized optical axis and an s-polarized optical axis 16a in a polarized wave separator 20, the deviation can be generated on the power in the p- polarized light component and the s-polarized light component of the output of the polarized wave separator 20. Here, the incident radiation is entered into the optical fiber corresponding to orthogonal polarized optical axes 16b (a p'-polarized optical axis and an s'-polarized optical axis) obtained by rotating the p-polarized optical axis and the s-polarized optical axis by a certain angleθ. Therefore the deviation of the power in the p-polarized light component and the s-polarized light component of the output of the polarized wave separator 20 can be prevented. The measuring method of the polarized wave mode dispersion at that time is same as that in the case when the incident radiation is fitted to the p-polarized optical axis and the s-polarized optical axis 16a, and the polarized wave mode dispersion can be measured.
