PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inhibiting an ethylene response in a plant. SOLUTION: This method comprises applying an effective ethylene response- inhibitory amount of cyclopropene, 1,1,1-propellane or a derivative thereof to the plant.
