<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and accurately set effect parameters for giving sound effects. <P>SOLUTION: Test sounds are radiated from rear speakers 26 and 28 and picked up by microphones 48 and 50 to obtain environment data regarding circumferential sound characteristics. When a sound effect is specified through a panel operation element 4, etc., effect parameters are automatically determined according to the specified sound effect and environment data.
