<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus preventing a shortcoming that current consumption exceeds peak current consumption set in a power restriction rule or the like or the heating time of a fixing means is long, <P>SOLUTION: An AC-DC converter capable of changing output voltage is set as the power source of the heating element of the fixing means. In the case of heating the heating element from low temperature to high temperature, an AC current flowing into the image forming apparatus is detected, and voltage applied to the heating element at the time of warming up is set to the voltage equal to or above that at the copying time and applied so that the detected current may not exceed a specified current value, whereby the fixing means is rapidly heated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
