PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device capable of eliminating the roughness of a display picture and preventing the occurrence of moire fringe between a low-pass filter and a pixel. SOLUTION: The picture display device is equipped with a picture display element 20 constituted by two-dimensionally arraying pixels 21<SB>1</SB>and 21<SB>2</SB>, the low-pass filter 10 constituted by arranging a fine convex refractive surface group, a concave refractive surface group, a convex reflection surface group or a concave reflection surface group whose radius of curvature is within a certain fixed restricted range at random, and an observation optical system 30 projecting a video displayed on the element 20 to an observer's eyeball E. When the half entire width of diffused light by the filter 10 is defined asθ, the pixel pitch of the element 20 is defined asΔ, and air-converted length from the diffusion surface of the filter 10 to the element 20 is defined as L, they satisfy a condition 0.1Δ<tanθ×L<4Δ.
