PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To timely supply water without stopping humidification. SOLUTION: The humidifier is provided with vaporization filter 1 having water absorption properties, a water supply part 2 supplying water to the vaporization filter 1, a fan 3 ventilating the vaporization filter 1, a motor 4 driving the fan 3, a heater 5 heating water within the water supply part 2, a water level detection device 6 detecting the water level of the water supply part 2, a brightness detection device 7 detecting the brightness of a room, a display part 10 displaying information about operation state, and an air outlet 14 for heated steam discharged indoors. When a water level detected by the water level detection device 6 reaches the predetermined water level, energization of the heater 5 is shut off, a first display is displayed by the display part 10, the amount of steam discharged from the air outlet 14 is determined according to the brightness detected by the brightness detection device 7, and energization time of the motor 4 is determined based on the amount of steam.
