PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an industrially useful 2,3,6,7,10,11-substituted triphenylene compound in high yield and purity within a short reaction time without using an exclusive apparatus. SOLUTION: The triphenylene compound of formula (2) is produced by reacting a 1,2-disubstituted benzene of formula (1) with an oxidizing agent in the presence of a protonic acid in a mixed solvent composed of 1-15 pts.vol. of water added to 100 pts.vol. of an organic solvent.
