<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible fiber-compounded wire rope having a thin rope size and high strength per unit sectional area and light weight per unit length and capable of expressing good frictional contact with a slider while maintaining necessary fatigue performance though the slider diameter is brought to be small when used as a running wire and saving spaces and reducing costs. <P>SOLUTION: This compound wire rope uses high strength steel wires and comprises a core part 7 in which twisted wires are coated with a high polymer around the periphery, at least one side layer comprising several bundles of twisted wires, high performance fiber strands as a main body and an coating layer installed on the periphery of those bundles.
