PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition inhibiting cholesterol biosynthesis for use in treating hypercholesterolemia. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition comprises [R-(R*,R*)]-2-(4- fluorophenyl)-β,δ-dihydroxy-5-(1-methylethyl)-3-phenyl-4-[(phenylamino)carbonyl]-1 H-pyrrole-1-heptanoic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount effective for lowering blood cholesterol levels and a pharmaceutically acceptable support.
