PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus in which mounting cost and power consumption are reduced by reducing the number of high-speed signal lines connecting a group of transmission circuits to a group of reception circuits which are necessary, in performing a loop-back test of a signal transmission/reception apparatus for signal communication. SOLUTION: Reference numeral 101 denotes a communication apparatus A for transmitting/receiving a parallel signal, reference numeral 103 denotes a communication apparatus B for transmitting/receiving a serial signal, and a reference numeral 102 denotes a signal transmission/reception apparatus provided between the apparatuses 101 and 103 to convert the parallel signal to the serial signal and vice versa. The apparatus 102 consists of a transmission circuit IC 104 and a reception circuit IC 108. The IC 104 comprises a serializer 105 and a transmission driver 107, and the IC 108 comprises an input buffer 111 and a deserializer 109. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
