PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer type measuring instrument having novel appearance by providing a light transparency adjusting means for light in the direction of visual confirmation in an indicator 3 to devise a visual confirmation condition of the indicator 3 when the whole indicator 3 emits light and is displayed by panel face light emission of a display panel 2. SOLUTION: A speeds meter 1 which is the pointer type measuring instrument is provided a recessed part 3c opposing to the display panel 2 as the light transparency adjusting means for changing transparency of light applied from the display panel 2 in a pointer part 3a of the indicator 3 which emits light and is displayed by receiving light applied from the display panel 2. Consequently, a thickness T1 in the recessed part 3c of the indicator 3 is reduced than a thickness T2 in the other part of the indicator. To explain in other words, transparency in the recessed part 3c becomes higher than transparency in the other part so that it is visually confirmed that a part corresponding to the recessed part 3c of the indicator 3 is brighter than the other part. That is, the indicator 3 is visually confirmed in such a way that it has the same color but its brightness is partially changed, thereby providing the car speed meter 1 having the novel appearance.
