DISK DEVICE USING FERROELECTRIC THIN FILM

PURPOSE: A disk device using a ferroelectric thin film is provided to realize an inexpensive disk device freely recording and reproducing data. CONSTITUTION: A disk(18) is formed of a circular substrate, an electrode layer accumulated on the substrate, and a ferroelectric layer accumulated on the electrode layer. A head(19) includes a microtip forming a dielectric domain on the ferroelectric layer for recording data, and reading data while reciprocating an interval of a quarter length of optical wavelength in a direction vertical to a surface of the disk according to the polarity of the dielectric domain. The head includes a reflecting element reflecting light. An optical system(100) recognizes a difference in optical path according to vertical reciprocation of the head for detecting the recording data.
