PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of displaying realistically a background on a three-dimensional image. SOLUTION: Two-dimensional background image data stored in a character ROM are read, and a background image is rendered in a frame memory in a video RAM (U1, U2). Model data in the character ROM are read, and an object is arranged in a world coordinate, and the object is projected on a screen coordinate (U3-U6). Texture data in the character ROM are read, and a visual field image acquired by pasting a texture on a position in the frame memory corresponding to each polygon of the projected object is generated (U8). The visual field image wherein the object is rendered on the background image is displayed on a display means by generation of an interrupt (U9, U10).
