PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a river water power generation device performing power generation with no influence on environment, without requiring the construction of a dam and impairing an ecology system, natural environment and scenery. SOLUTION: The river water power generation device has a water wheel 102 having a plurality of blades radially extended against an approximately horizontally provided rotation shaft 101; and a power generator 103 connected to the rotation shaft 101 of the water wheel. The water wheel 102 has a plurality of water wheel modules 110 approximately horizontally provided in a row at a predetermined space; and a lifting mechanism capable of varying a height of installment of the water wheel modules 110 such that a flow of river water is only butted to a blade 102d at a lower side of the water wheel 102.
