摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide countermeasures that ensure the combustion stability and improve fuel consumption, in a device in which, the mode is forced to switch to a uniform charge combustion mode from a stratified charge combustion mode that has been carried out, when the variation between actual combustion pressure and target combustion pressure is equal to or larger than a predetermined value. SOLUTION: In a cylinder injection type engine in which combustion modes are switched based on the operational condition of an engine, an ECU sets a target value of pressure of fuel that is supplied to a fuel injection valve, controls a high pressure fuel pump so that the variation of the fuel pressure between the target fuel pressure and the actual fuel pressure becomes small. When the variation of the fuel pressure in the stratified charge combustion mode is equal or larger than the predetermined valuesΔF2,ΔF2', the combustion mode is forced to switch to the uniform charge combustion mode.
