<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object tracking method with unchanged illumination and an image editing device using the method. <P>SOLUTION: This object tracking method is characterized by including (a) a step for designating a primary position of the object to be tracked by an image, (b) a step for executing color modeling in consideration of a color ratio of adjacent pixels of the image, (c) a step for generating a probability map for object tracking in response to a result of the color modeling, and (d) a step for tracking the present position of the object based on the primary position and the probability map. This image editing device using the tracking method is equipped with a primary position designation part for designating the primary position of the object to be tracked by the image, a color modeling part for executing color modeling in consideration of the color ratio of adjacent pixels of the object and the whole image, a probability map constitution part for constituting the probability map for tracking the object in response to the color modeling result, and an object tracking part for tracking the present position of the object in response to the initial position and the probability map. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
