<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a light emitting device capable of preventing light emitting elements from dispersing in brightness due to the characteristics of TFTs for controlling currents to be supplied to the light emitting elements, preventing the light emitting elements from lowering in brightness due to deterioration of the organic light emitting layer, and also obtaining constant brightness without being influenced by the deterioration and temperature change of the organic light emitting layer. <P>SOLUTION: The current made to flow through a light emitting element is kept at a desired value without being influenced by the characteristic of the TFT by controlling the brightness of the light emitting element not by the voltage to be applied to the TFT but controlling the current flowing through the TFT by the signal line driving circuit. Further, a reverse bias voltage is applied to the light emitting element at regular intervals. The above two configurations bring a synergy effect, so that the brightness is prevented from farther lowering due to deterioration of the organic light emitting layer, and also keeping the current flowing through the light emitting element at a desired value without being influenced by the characteristic of the TFT. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
