PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature control device for an electric carpet and electric heating blanket as improvement of the conventional technique involving such problems that the current flowing in a thermo-fuse heating body lessens when its safety circuit is actuated in the condition that the ambient temperature and the supply voltage are low, and that the temperature of the thermo-fuse heating body does not rise to the level required for the fuse to blow. SOLUTION: The temperature control device is configured so that a bypass current is fed from the AC mains to the thermo-fuse heating body 6 via a bypass circuit 11 consisting of a current limiting resistance 9 and rectifying element 19, whereby the thermo-fuse heating body 6 is preliminarily heated to a temperature lower than the blowing temperature of the fuse 7. Even if the current flowing in the heating body 6 is less, the temperature control device can raise the temperature of the heating body 6 quickly till the level required for the fuse 7 to blow.
