During the construction of a building with load-bearing sidewalls, the foundation raft of esp. porous reinforced (3) concrete (2) is cast on a full-width sub-foundation of prefabricated concrete blocks (1). Loads from the walls are partly transferred directly to the foundation blocks, reducing the load on the concrete raft.
