A fabric valve (200) is disclosed that is made of a fabric blank (210) folde n in a pattern that promotes the flow of fluid in one direction (350) along an axis of the fabric valve (200) but restricts the flow in the opposite direction along the same axis. The fabric valve (200) is easy to construct a nd is made by a series of folds (218, 220, 222). The fabric valve (200) may be particularly suitable for use with inflatable safety devices (530) used in vehicles, such as air bags and air curtains, to restrict backflow of gas fro m a given air bag when pressure is applied to the bag. A method of making the fabric (200) valve and a system incorporating the fabric valve (200) are als o disclosed.
