The device has external inlet shafts into which photovoltaic elements can be inserted. Instead of the photovoltaic elements, heat absorption bodies of high thermal conductivity material, preferably coated aluminum and./or iron, can be used with the provision that the bodies can be fed into containers containing an easily evaporated liquid, i.e. drinking water, seawater or foul water.
