Finishing of non-wovens compacted with fluid jets, e.g. for hygiene articles, involves integrating stages into process before drying

A non-woven (1) that has been compacted with fluid jets is given subsequent treatments in an integrated process before drying. After compacting, the non-woven is passed between squeeze rollers (2) into a wet treatment bath (5), e.g. for impregnating, hydrophobic treatment, dyeing, applying binders. It can then be given spray treatments (10) or materials applied (14) before drying (15). Additional treatments can include embossing a surface structure and using the drying heat to laminate additional layers to the non-woven.
