A hydro-mechanical deep-draw press has a plunger (1), a retaining frame (2) and a drawing ring (3) resting on a base frame (4). A sheet metal panel (P) is fixed between the retaining frame and drawing ring. Together, the panel, drawing ring and base frame form a pressure chamber (D) filled by a fluid (F). The fluid is introduced via a variable-width gap (S) between the drawing ring and base frame.
