The present invention relates to bladder and lower urinary tract syndromes, particularly, irrative symptoms, and to a method of treating same using alpha1d-adrenergic receptor (alpha1dAR) antagonists. The invention further relates to a method of screening compounds for their ability to serve as alpha1dAR selective antagonists.
