Detergent tablets include a cationic nitrile (I) contained in a cavity sealed with a film. Detergent tablets include a cationic nitrile of formula (I) contained in a cavity sealed with a film; R1 = H, Me, 2-24C alkyl or alkenyl (optionally substituted with Cl, Br, OH, NH2 and/or CN) or optionally substituted alkyl- or alkenylaryl; R2, R3 = CH2CN, 103C alkyl, hydroxymethyl, 1- or 2-hydroxyethyl, 1-, 2- or 3-hydroxypropyl of (CH2CH2O)nH; n = 1-6; X = an anion. An Independent claim is also included for production of detergent tablets by pressing a particulate premix to form a base tablet with a cavity, introducing (I) into the cavity in liquid, gel, paste or solid form, optionally applying adhesive to the tablet, sealing the cavity with a film and optionally further treating the tablet.
